Costa Rica Riverfront Resort

We placed first place in a private architectural competition for the design of a residential complex in the Costa Rican location of Bahia Ballena, found in short distance from the sea. The concept consists of two areas: a main building that has a visually subtle shape, using horizontal masses supported by subtle columns, and an area of private huts placed all over the forest hill inspired by the shape of an armadillo. The only access road to the future resort opens at the main entrance and the rest of the area is accessible only on foot through the maze of pathways, stairs, pools, and mini gardens. We envisioned this as a perfect place for retreats, community living, or nomad stays where you can fully enjoy Pura Vida.
